There are a lot of post to go through so i might have missed it, but is there anyway to keep the original backgrounds of the game with this mod
Delete the skybox background meshes, and textures in the mod. That should restore the vanilla sins backgrounds. Make sure you back up the mod just in case you screw it up.

thanks for the response. I think your solution for the factions was great and Borg as a stand alone entity is a great challenge as an AI. Had hours of fun trying to survive it:) thanks guys. now that nobody really cares of Birth of the Federation MP, discovery of SOA2 as a playable mp strategy game filled up a void somewhat.
Breen, Cardassian, and Jem Hadar make up the Dominion.
The Borg were originally not to be playable, a pirate replacement, but the mod took a different rout long since that video was made. A new video intro may be in the works.
The mod definitely is not the same as it was in Original Sins. I originally planned for the Cardassians to be a separate faction. However there were not near enough decent units out there to make a single faction out of them. Most of the non-canon stuff was atrocious IMO. So it was decided to combine the Cardassian, Breen, and Dominion into a single faction (with a Cardassian mutiny mechanic that has yet to be added). That worked very well for us.
When Entrenchment was released we decided to add the Borg as the pirate faction. However that didn't work out as well as we had hoped. Too many game breaking issues. So almost at the time of Diplomacy we made the Borg into an intentionally OP playable faction. Borg are meant to be played by the AI, but You can play them to see the units strengths, and weakness's. Players need to take advantage of the Diplomacy features to make allies so they can defeat the Borg.
Cardassian mutiny has been in there since Entrenchment.
Under the current implementation, it happens when running into certain pirates after they get the appropriate upgrade.
