Freeworlds: Tides of War is a fan built Star Wars total conversion mod for Digital Anvil's Freelancer game that was released several years ago. When fans began to make mods for Freelancer, one of the many things people were keen on seeing was a Freelancer mod based on the Star Wars universe developed by George Lucas. Freeworlds and Tides of War were the answer to this outcry. The development team of both mods have now joined forces to create an epic new Star Wars TC, Freeworlds: Tides of War.

Hi all,

First I would like to thank you again for the hard work you made here. I would like to reinstall the mod via Desura but when I launch the mod, it ctd after the freelancer loading screen. What is wrong plz ? I had installed an original Freelancer game via CD (an especially game I bought to enjoy your mod) to j:/starwars/TidesofWar, then installed the patch 1.1, then installed FToW via Desura (1.4). Help will be very useful, thx by advance :) I'm using Win7 x64 + gtx 680 classified :)

I'm having this same problem. I've seen it reported in a couple places including the Freeworlds forum, but no one ever posted a solution. I've tried reinstalling Freelancer and the mod a couple times. Here's the event viewer log for the crash in case that helps.

First of all, great work as always, but those frigates and capitals are moving and behaving somewhat strange, is this kind of "sliding movement" occurring because of the WIP-stage of this mod?
And the second thing which really bothers me is the fact of the sizes of all of the ships, or the relations between them; there is nothing more immersion breaking than an enourmous V-Wing bumping into the glowing wreck of an Interdictor, so will there be worked on? Just by the way, does the V-Wing take damage?

Sizer Dec 18 2013, 2:58pm replied:

The sliding of capitals is a result of Freelancer's netcode. We can clean it up as much as we can, but over net, capitals will always appear to move in a less than favorable manner. As for the scale, that's a trick of perception. When viewed from 3rd person, fighters are quite small.
