The Oil Blue is an indie action sim set in the near future where you explore the world's oceans in search of oil, landing on abandoned refinery islands and reclaiming them under the watchful eyes of a major energy company.
Once you land on an island, you have a set amount of days and oil production targets to hit during your stay. Fire up those old drilling machines and start making oil underwater, watch the oil barrel market and sell at the highest price, repair machines and do it all within the time you’re given…or your employer, the United Oil of Oceania corp., will boot you off the island for a better crew. Sell more barrels to achieve higher ranks and perks, upgrade your machines, and conquer the ocean!
See why About.com calls it "...a rich and rewarding experience that’s really unlike any game out there." and JayisGames.com says, "The Oil Blue looks great, plays great, and will suck you in for hours at a time."
The Xmas Bundle is live!

This game is really fun! To be completely honest I'm not even sure why it's so compelling. Maybe it's the clank of the machines or the frantic clicking but whatever it is, I like it. Was this designed for a tablet computer originally? If not it would seem like a natural place for it.
Yup, I'd agree with all you wrote.
The game's incredibly addictive and mysterious, mechanical yet never cold.
The UI would lend itself really well to the tablets, the same thing came to my mind.
If anyone could help, I was gifted a key to activate this game.. but I can't find where to apply the key. Even downloaded the demo, no luck.
Secure.desura.com
Also when I copy/paste the key I usually have to delete the last letter or number and reinput it manually.
Install Desura, if you haven't already>> click on Desura logo (top left corner )>> Tools>> Activate Game...>>Enter your key.
This was made with Game Maker? Impressive!
This is nothing. You can virtually make anything with this engine. It's way underrated because the quality of game released and the lack of anaemic development since Yoyo took over.
It is a real engine, even if it tends to attract certain...demographics of games.
I think the only bad thing about all this is the timing, the game is so well made, and it's just a shame that this oil spill junk is going to cut some possible buyers, I know I got he game, and great work, the fact that at least someone is using game maker to its true potential is great, keep it up...
