Ugh. I'm really torn on this. Do I buy here now or do I wait for a similar sale on GOG.com?

On the one hand, this is the first opportunity I've had to satisfy my "I own so many unplayed games that I never pay more than $5 for new ones" rule... but, on the other hand, I generally never buy things directly on Desura or Desura-backed sites like IndieRoyale and DailyRoyale anymore.

(I've been burned twice by people on Desura unlisting their games after moving to Steam, depriving me of content I've paid for. Sites like GOG.com and Humble Bundle Inc. try many contractual and technical measures to avoid that and sites like IndieGameStand offer their own direct downloads in addition to any Desura keys they offer.)

I decided against.

Given how consistently reviews mention that the quality drops rather sharply half-way through, how many reviewers with my tastes say the humour falls flat, and that, even on GOG, I don't get a ready-to-play soundtrack, I think I'll wait and play through more of my existing collection first.

(The soundtrack is more a matter of principle and convenience than cost. I firmly believe that, if I pay for the soundtrack as part of the game, I have a right to format-shift it and load it onto my MP3 player. It'd be a hassle to have to find or write yet another tool like UnXWB or Unity Resource Explorer and then possibly still have to adapt the script I wrote to piece together start.ogg and loop.ogg slices from Cave Story+'s SNES-style "remastered" BGMs.)

Who knows. Maybe GOG'll have a suitable sale or it'll show up in a Humble Bundle with the soundtrack included.

The soundtrack IS on sale currently on our website, www.QuestForInfamy.com - you're right, the GoG version only has a few tracks. The full soundtrack is over 85 tracks! There's also a demo available on our website at that address too - you could download it, and see if it's to your liking. You might find you enjoy it; if not, such is life, right? Thanks for the interest, anyway, it means a lot to a small developer like us.

Thanks but sale or not doesn't really matter to me because I'm fairly strict in my policy that I don't buy soundtracks unless I specifically want tracks not present within the game itself... which rarely happens.

(I think the last time was when I re-bought Aquaria in a later Humble Bundle so I could stop playing the soundtrack-exclusive "Fear The Dark" on YouTube while waiting for a sale so extreme that I could justify buying it for just one track.)

No comments? This looks awesome. Reminds me of the old Quest for Glory, with the fighting tossed into the adventure game concept.

Yep! You've got it exactly right.
It's an adventure/RPG hybrid, and very much a loving homage to Quest for Glory. In this case, though, you get to play an opportunistic & ambitious rogue out for himself, rather than a hero.
Don't worry about the lack of comments, we're still pulling things together here, and really haven't marketed the IndieDB page much, other than a couple of tweets on Twitter and a Facebook post.
There's a free demo here that you might have fun playing!
