Robot rebellions should be quelled by the best of the best. When the best of the best are killed... it's up to you. Subdue the uprising in time, or your corporate overlords nuke the city. Bionic Dues is a tactical, turn-based roguelite with mech customization. Guide multiple classes of Exos through a variety of missions filled with enemy robots that are as buggy as they are angry. This is at least as bad as it sounds. Explore for loot, destroy key robotic facilities, and brace yourself for the final attack by your enemies... just as soon as they can pull it together. Available on October 8th on Steam, our site, and other distributors!

Now there's a Steam-free version on GOG, any chance we could get the same treatment here?

Yeah, not interested in buying here if I have to use Steam.

A Desura version would be very welcome! Some of us aren't here for Steam games ;-)

To install it, not to run it. Big difference. This reduce steam to a fancy downloader which you can trash once you got the game.

Oh, I'm sorry, I thought the issue here was about DRM. But if the hosting site of the download is the problem, then that's a different issue entirely.

As far as I'm concerned, if I can run the game without any 3rd party client, I'm a-okay.

With Desura, Humble, GOG, Gameolith, Shinyloot, FireFlower Games, itch.io (etc.) I download the game from hosting once.

Henceforth, I may need to re-install because I removed the game to make space, or perhaps I modded the game and got it hopelessly wedged, or perhaps I put it on my laptop to play a little Dustforce (or whatever) on the go, or any of a number of completely reasonable legitimate reasons.

Now, I simply fetch fhe file from my local backup drives. Not only need I not use a "fancy downloader", but I need not download it at all... simply copy a file via eSATA from point to point, install, and go.

Steam, though? Must have internet access (what if my net connection is down or slow due to other family members using it?). Must download the whole game off the Internet, must log into a service each time I need to do that. Why bother when I can have a local installer?

This is good for patching, but I only care about patching until my game works well, and then I never want patches again. They can hurt me! Just take Starbound for example... wonderful game, loads of fun, but one particular patch came and stole my shiplocker. Yes, I could turn off patching, but then what exactly is the Steam value-add anymore?

In any case, it is good to know that Arcen isn't actually using Steamworks for DRM. That paves the way for a possible DRM-free version in the future, which is very good news, and I thank you for reporting that back to us, Logorouge. Anyway, my long-winded point is just that it's not just crazy hipsters that want DRM-free versions of stuff. Some of us are actually normal people with well-reasoned justifications :-)

Thank you for taking the time to write that. I agree with you completely, for those very reasons. I'm actually a GOGer and a modder, so I can certainly relate. Being able to just zip the game folder, throw it on an usb stick and play it wherever/whenever was a very important aspect when I bought this game. That's why I was ****** when I saw the mention "Requires Steam to run" and felt the need to comment.
