Chat and Achivments are currently not a must have. This are features that should be added step by step. More Mods and games would be really awesome, but for me as a Linux user forced to use Windows for gameing, Linux is the first choice. Especially because: The more features Desura have, the harder it will get for you to port it all to Linux later. If you build for Linux from the beginning and implement feature after feature, you can fokus that they work under both systems step by step.
But for me: I do not care what you do first, just seeing you working on this masterpiece of Software-Design and knowing that you think about making a Linux-Port make me happy enough for the moment :)

I say go the Linux client. I'm a developer and I'm currently working on something that will be easy to port to Windows, MacOS, and Linux. I'm currently not sure how to go about selling on Linux though... Desura having a Linux client would make things awesome.

Also, that is the only feature on the poll that would give you something that Steam lacks, which would be pretty sweet. :)

I use Windows occasionally (actually posting this from Desura), but Linux is my preferred OS. I end up using it about 80-90% of the time. The only reason I boot Windows any more is to play games I bought that don't work on Linux, but I've been buying only Linux-naitive games for the last 6 months or so.

If Desura comes to Linux I'll buy every game that gets released. :)

I too only use windows because of gaming. I dual boot linux/windows and since ati have nailed the video tearing I intend to use linux as much as I used it before moving from nvidia cards. I currently buy games from steam but since they confirmed there not developing a linux client Desura has a chance to get pretty much every linux gamer onboard. Also a lot of windows/linux users may fully switch to linux knowing they can game as they do in windows. Go for it guys!

A Linux client would be great and hopefully increase the number of linux games. In the last two or three years i only bought nativ linux games from Indie game developers or from LGP.

I signed up just to vote and comment here, I exclusively use Linux as my desktop/whatever OS and would use Desura on Linux if it were to be released for it.

More games would be awesome. What are the requirements for games getting onto Desura? Why aren't all ModDB mods instantly included?

have you considered xmpp integration? this could solve buddy lists, chat, status, every other kind of information like current game/server etc. via pep, voice via jingle, push notifications, custom data stream via jingle, if you want even 3rd party clients (just jabber clients) for chat etc. or federation with all other xmpp servers (like google talk) for open communication from the desura client or with an api even in games.

The next step should be an in-game client like steam, including chat, stats and acheivements. Also, an easier way to search and find friends...

Linux, and second, more BOTH noncommercial and commercial games! Free games don't generate any profit, but they boost promotion & strength & respect of the site.

The only thing that I want - Linux client.
If developers smart enought - they will understand that this is most important thing to bring Linux client.
Because there is no other alternatives and they can occupy this market.

+1 for linux.
While there *are* solutions for linux users out there ( Community.linuxmint.com ), more importantly this would hopefully get the attention of more developers. I would love to see Desura being a driving force and become a major player in this movement. Not to mention that, inevitably, others (e.g. Steam) will catch on, so Desura having a nice lead can only be a good thing :)

Linux client FTW!
I agree with everyone above: being pretty much the only Games Publishing platform for gnu/linux would indeed be a great opportunity for Desura! I don't count Ubuntu Software Center because they suck. Really.
Go Desura!

It is interesting how so many people seem to be in between Linux and windows just because of gaming. What would Linux market share be if all those people where counted as Linux users?
Anyway, I cant wait for a Desura Linux client, and more games!

But, erp, would having a Linux Desura client actually allow more games to be played on Linux? Or are you thinking that it would just encourage more games for Linux?

Wow, anyone have any suggestions other than Linux?

A mini social feed like twitter would be nice to see on individual developer pages (possible on their games too). Also a mobile app would be nice. For both mobile games and for all developers who want to check sales and comments on the go.

Even a general "recent activity" (including all comments) for the games you are working (or favourites) would be very much appreciated.
