What if one day, you wake up as a patient in a hospital, without any memory of yourself? What are you going to believe? Or... Who are you going to believe?...

I remember back at May when I first registered at FG forum being amazed by the many custom stories that people were making with the Amnesia engine. I played lots of them for lots of hours, great hours. But after some weeks I eventually started getting bored of the same old castle-based stories. And then I saw White Night. A modern story. A modern environment. A modern creation, something new and something worth waiting for. It was when you made the forum topic, some time after making the moddb page. White Night brought Penumbra to Amnesia and thus HPL to HPL2. It brought a story instead of cheap scares. It brought the first real and organized voice acting. It brought the first "cinematics", as good as they can be at the HPL2 engine.
More specifically, White Night has an amazing story that personally reminds me a little-bit of Shatter Island with influences from Jacob's Ladder, Cube trilogy and of course Silent Hill games. But, it is true that sometimes the story does not perfectly gets across what it is trying to relay. I think that some things are not easily understood or answered when the story ends but maybe that has to do with each players awareness of what he sees. White Night is not to be played in parts but all in once. That's the key for a full immersion on such story-oriented mods, apparently time consuming as well (in a good way) since it is the largest custom HPL2 story I have played so far.
Now about the setting. First of all it is amazing. It is a whole new game, no Amnesia anymore. The music is creepy and I could feel this thing again that I did in Amnesia. A scary environment and only a selection of enemy scares, carefully chosen. It has little puzzles which are not tiring but sometimes are irrelevant to the story. I really liked the upside rooms, the other self actually, the phone call and the cube room with the four chairs.
Thank you for this great story and this great mod. Keep up the good work Tans!

Great mod! The only faults I could find were that it was way too dark without a flashlight/lightbulbs around, and that the lighting system sometimes screwed up the textures.

This IS and probably will stay the best Amnesia mod out there.
I've played some of the most anticipated Amnesia custom stories, and I can say that White Night is the best.
This really reminds me of Penumbra Black Plague, combined with Amnesia.
The flashlight, light bulbs and batteries are a great addition, and it works really well. I haven't completed it yet, but the first monster encounter gave me the creeps already.
10/10

This really is and will be the best mod for amnesia, I really enjoyed every detail, great atmosphere and story, scary monsters and moments. It have great story and ending, you really don´t know who can you trust and that´s quite psycho. It has also long gameplay (If you don´t run it of course and I say, don´t do it,...you will miss much) and modern (Penumbra-like) graphics, which is great, for me even better then Amnesia. If you have Amnesia, then YOU MUST HAVE THIS!!!

Excellent custom story. You gave Amnesia a complete overhaul. New textures, models, everything. Great to see a CS with an actual well-thought out story instead of a crappy jump-scare story.
After completing my first custom story recently, I can appreciate all the hard work that goes into a project like this. I spent only 3 months on mine, so I can't imagine the hard work that went into your 10 month project.
Definitely deserves the 10/10
