Tactical Fleet Simulator third generation (TFS 3G) is a complex, total overhaul of Homeworld2 with the objective of transforming the game into a tactics-oriented combat simulator. Recurring themes are quasi-modern (circa 20th century) air and naval doctrines modified for three-dimensional movement, complete with a proper unit classification scheme. Grand strategy plays a significant role, but the emphasis is on battlefield adaptability which is simulated by a large amount of available assets with similar albeit different roles.

I have discovered a few major bugs which follow
1:I can't run the Win7 shortcut (when I still had the demo it loaded that instead. when I reinstalled it refused to run) and every time I try it leaves a write.txt file on the desktop
Note: for the following I am using the WinXP shortcut w/out the hotfix
2:Defense mode has a CTD on loading ScarScript
3:Survival Mode is broke, as the only option with an effect is the Initial Ru's and the AI just sits and does absolutely nothing
i am using a stock G62-355DX laptop with 64-bit Win7. Unfortunatly due to the loss of the cd I am also running the game with the 3.39mb .exe and mounted as a .iso
1) Try creating your own shortcut manually.
2) Noted.
3) Survival mode worked when I tried it.
i didn't realize how survival worked... so i assumed the ai was broke. i recently tried it and got swarmed.
sorry for the double comment but my win7 shortcut should work..."C:\Program Files (x86)\Sierra\ Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe" -mod TFSv2.8.big
but it doesn't. it just opens vanilla HW2
btw i stuck a space before Homeworld2 to get it in the comment window
any chance for a response?
hi!
thanks again to battelcry who made this kick *** mod
its been a while since i played homeworld but i just wanted say that there is a lot of intelligence that went into this mod and it really shows
i really appreciate that the campaign has been fixed.
after i play it again i wonder if you battlecry might be interested in some ideas that i have had? i know this happens all the time so sorry
cheers
anton
Feel free to leave any suggestions on my Moddb profile page or in the TFS comments section.
I know you've fixed the bugs in the campaign, and for that I'm eternally grateful, when before I couldn't even get past the 1st or 3rd missions due to dead triggers.
I will mention tho that there still is one bug for the mission where you have to collect the broken bentusi hyperspace core, if they get the core into the carrier, the clock will still count down to a loss even if you destroy it (just had to make sure they never docked the core =P).
Though the main thing I'd like to ask you is do you have any intention of balancing the campaign? Because I'm fairly sure that the balcora gate is just impossible with this mod. There's literally a shoal of 20+ battlecruisers, disregarding the veritable swarms of fighters and frigates that blow your way, even at the height of my micro, I only got them down to 4 before my fleet was utterly wiped out. I am going to try one more thing when I get the chance to play again, by holding off with a defense fleet and sending the majority of my frigates, corvettes and fighters off to the side of the gate to see if i can at least rescue the nodes. (plus the usual sacrificial strike swarm to destroy the shipyard)
Anyhooo I love the balancing you've done, especially with ridding the horribly OP shamshir craft though i do miss my light flachette cannon corvettes (forgot what they were called) as I used they fairly extensively.
whelp i take back the balancing comment for the campaign. tactic worked perfectly and i beat the campaign. :)
