Source Media Arcade is an all-in-one media center experience for your PC. Shortcuts to your files, games, and movies appear as full-sized arcade cabinets, hand-held tablets, or mounted view screens. You access your media items simply by walking up to them and pressing the USE key. In version 2, you are able to play in MULTIPLAYER mode where your friends can come join in on the fun.

Thank for the great Mod. I am using Windows 7 64 bit amd radeon 6450, and Im getting the Only one instance of the game can be running at one time when I launch a source game from the arcade.I do have both the playlist and the item set to steam service closed. I saw in your FAQ that I should come to the forum for answers. So far I can get Half-life 2 to launch but no on Alien swarm, left4dead 1 and 2.

The reason for the error is because SM Arcade itself is a Source engine mod, so in order to launch another Source engine game from SM Arcade, you have to allow SM Arcade to shut itself down.

You can tell SM Arcade to shut itself down automatically when specific games are launched.

1. Walk up to the arcade cabinet that contains the Source engine game that fails to launch
2. Press the customize button
3. Under "Item", click the Edit button
4. Change the item's "Open With" value to "Steam Service (Close)"

I know SM Arcade closing itself is not the greatest solution, and you will have to manually re-launch SM Arcade after you're done playing Left4Dead or what ever you are playing.

I'm trying to get a fix for this hassle  for the next version, but it doesn't look too promising.

This problem only effects Source engine games.

I found a solution for my problem of certain source games not launching
from SM arcade. In my situation even though I have the item set at steam
service (close), I still was getting error " Only one instance of the
game can be running at one time". I think this was due to either  sm
arcade not closing fast enough or the source game opening too fast. So I
set the source games that were not launching to "Run this program as an
administrator" and now I can start them from SM arcade.

Awesome, great job on finding a work-around.  I guess the prompt to allow the game to launch as an admin gives SM Arcade adequate time to finish closing.

Glad to see you got it working the way you want.  I'd appreciate it if you could tell me the name of the Source engine game that gave you trouble, so I can make note of this issue/workaround for future reference.

I was having trouble opening left 4 dead 1 and 2, alien swarm and portal 2.
