Rise of Mankind: A New Dawn is an expansion of the existing, and incredibly popular Civilization 4: Beyond the Sword Mod, Rise of Mankind, by Zappara. Rise of Mankind attempts to simulate history, but was not intended to be a perfect historical simulator, like Rhye's and Fall of Civilization is; instead it follows mostly historical lines, but allows for those "What-If" scenarios to occur. Rise of Mankind serves as an expansion from Beyond the Sword, adding a huge new technology tree, putting great importance on buildings and creating infrastructure, along with incorporating other successful mods, like Revolutions, Influence Driven War, Next War, and much more.

The Goal of Rise of Mankind: A New Dawn is to provide the player with the same enthralling experience that Rise of Mankind gave, without forcing any unwanted features or constraints onto them. This goal has been the central piece in all of A New Dawn development. This means that every single feature is completely optional.

I cant get the 'wrong folder' message to go away
I've checked and triple checked that i have the ROM folder selected

at this point i'm wondering if i was supposed to do something else other than extract ROM to C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Rise of Mankind

if i try to go ahead and install anyway, the WOC thing doesn't launch and i get the xml errors on mod load

Hm, (I'm on PC btw) I installed rom 2.9 and then patched with a new dawn 1.73j. When i try to load the mod I get slammed with a million .xml related errors. Failed to load if I remember correctly. Any ideas?

Try the unofficial patch K, which fixes loading issues on some PC's. Patch K : Sourceforge.net

No, Most Civ4 Mods are PC Only. This is because Aspyr, the company who ported Civ4 to the Mac did a sloppy job, and felt that mods were unimportant.

Patches contain all of the changes from the previous patches, so you ONLY need the latest patch, and the full download.
