Movie Battles II
Animated Weapons
In my time on the MBII team as a trial coder, most of what I've done has been bugfixing and the like. But now...I present to you...a new visual feature!
The Z-6 rotary blaster cannon model is now available if you purchase Clone Rifle 3 with no blobs. It was modeled and textured by =Someone=, and "animated" and put in-game by me. Frost created the player animation. Check out the screenshots and video below!
How to:
Here is a little how to courtesy of =Someone= about how you would go making your own version of this for replacements or your own Full Authentic creation.
For any aspiring modeler or those who are just wondering, it works like this:
For first person:
You need to split the gun model up into 3 parts. You need a _hand model that holds all the important tags and takes care of the positioning of everything, a _barrel model for the animated part and the normal gun .md3 for the rest.
For third person:
For the animation to work in world view, the gun needs to be compiled like a vehicle. With a static bone for the static parts and bone_barrel for the animation and everything weighted to it accordingly.

I always appreciated rotary weapons, can't hit much at long range, but god help your victims if you get in close! sweet job guys!
P.S. What was that "ching" noise in the video? Is that an audio placeholder for something else?
Nah, thats just someone with Xfire sounds on, sounds like someone left a chat.
That is REALLY impressive! Damn man.
Looking great!

does anyone notice that the view model of the gun looks alot like the halo ce flamethrower hold?
