Actually, the fassassins in the 1.4/1.5 version of this room were a mistake made by the old MI team. They weren't really supposed to be there...

The thing in the center looks organic. Is it a Gonarch sack or something of that nature?
There were amputated Gonarch sacks the combine used to keep breeding headcrabs for use with their pods.
I always wondered, what the structure extending over all decks of the ship might be - some kind of alternative drive or something. The beta material had featured some kind of machine with assassins stored inside , but this looks organic...

I wonder if any of them got to play an exp/booth of portal two and incorporated something related into it.
This room was recreated based on concept art from Raising the Bar. Our mod has nothing to do with Portal.

I always thought that the Combine came to the Hyperborea to take back/destroy whatever crap the Resistance stole from them, considering the Hyperborea was probably a Resistance vessel.
But hey, I'd still like to see where you guys take this.

It think I know why Valve is makeing Portal 2 befor Hl2 Ep3.Mabe Portal 2 will explain some stuff about the borealis.
The hyperborea was a resistance vessel, but the combine took it over and started using it for there own purposes. At least thats what I think.
I'm starting to think that as well, that thing in this image seems to look like a weapon meant to take out kraken base. "If the ship makes it's course, kraken base is done for."
It's a giant testicle ripped out of an alien.
That's why we named the model br_testicle.mdl :)
