heXen:Edge of Chaos will be a new and free game, based on the original Hexen game which was developed by id Software and Raven Software.
Edge of Chaos is being developed by a team of fans who have always loved the original Hexen since it came out. In fact, most of us spent countless hours with the entire series. When id Software released Doom3, we immediately saw immense potential in the engine itself; the 'Hell' maps gave us the inspiration to make a hack-and-slash game based, primarily, on the original Hexen.

Pretty damn good mod. just wish there were active cutscences.
This is awesome i've been dying to see a new heretic/hexen mod for another game for a long time. I can barely wait till this is done. This will satisfy me untill raven software will finally make a hexen 3 or heretic 3. heretic 3 and hexen 3 are my dream games. But this is the best mod project i've seen so far. Keep up the good work.
Wow, I like the track you guys posted, it's very Hexen like. I'm a huge fan of Hexen and Hexen 2. Is your composer planning to do remixes of some classic Hexen music like Wastelands/Plaza of the sun or Winnowing Hall? That'd be pretty awesome, even if it's just a new song incorporating bits of the older songs.
It's nice to see this mod progressing btw, after hearing about it for so long (my bro used to work on it with you guys)
Hey Bloodshot, glad you like the music! We won't be incorporating or remixing any older tracks into the project. We'll have some that might feel very old school, but they will be original.
What name did your brother go under?
You've done a great work of modelling and design, but... can you lower the difficulty just a little bit? I know, maybe I sound like I just want to complain, I really want to play this game, but it is far harder than the original Hexen! Those little fiends appearing from time to time are unnerving! I lost the count of how many times I died in the first two plazas!
If only there was a switch in some config file, for example, "little fiends spawn rate" or whatever, I would set it to 10 minutes or so. Plus, I didn't see any difficulty selection at the start of the game.
If you solve this issue in the final version, I wll sure download and play it.
Those pits come turned off by default. The player has to turn them on in order for them to start appearing. In the Options-->Game Menu turn off Hellion Pits and that will turn them off. Hopefully this will make your enjoyability greater :)
Uh-oh! I didn't understand what that option meant at all! So, my "little fiends" were "hellion pits".... :D
Anyway, thank you very much! I'm going to start the game again.
Remember guys, once you make this into an indie game... make sure you get permission from Raven Software and id Software to do so. Ok???
This will not really be an indie game in any commercial sense. It's a free game made by fans and always will be.
Also we'd have to be complete idiots if we hadn't had some communication with the IP owners even when just a mod for doom 3.
I remember BloodRayne over at Doom3World.org posting about how the team asked Raven Software for permission and got the go-ahead in the very early days of Hexen: Edge of Chaos.
