Half-Life 2: Capture the Flag 2.0 brings the familiar Capture the Flag game play along with six other game modes in the new 2.0 release. True to its roots, the game pits the Rebels against the Combine in a fast-paced battle over the flags within the graphics rich environment of the Source engine. In this final release of the game, features introduced in all of the previous beta test versions have been now fully implemented. The mod in a nutshell is an homage to the fast-paced run and gun style of Capture the Flag such as found in Quake and Unreal Tournament. The mod is also 100% free to install and play under the free Source SDK!

How many people were involved in this mod?
Did you really started the development in 2005?

The entire history of the mod is in the read me file located in the root of the mod as well as a full change log. Go to your /Steam/steamapps/SourceMods/hl2ctf to find them. As you'll find, over the years of active development the team has always been very small. In the end, I think less than 20 developers total (including map developers) worked on the mod.

We have been meaning to: 1. Properly update the Wiki on HL2CTF and 2. Collect all of our notes from the history of the development of the mod and compose a history of the development. I will try and do that in the coming weeks.

If you own any Valve game (such as you owning Portal) then you can download the Source SDK for free. Once you install the mod and restart Steam and run HL2CTF from the games library, if you do not have the Source SDK it will begin downloading. It's all automatic and (again) completely free.

I think no, you need to install free Source SDK

If you have it installed via Desura, you should have the proper 2.1 patch and should be able to connect to any of the HL2CTF 2.1 servers. There are only a few left who have not yet updated from 2.0 to 2.1 and we don't know why. Traffic is really dead due to the holidays, but those that are playing should be on 2.1 servers.
