Run. Think. Shoot. Live. Source.

Black Mesa is the Half-Life 2 total conversion of the original Half-Life game. Utilizing the Source engine and its endless array of possibilities and powers, Black Mesa will throw you into the world that started the Half-Life continuum and introduced Gordon Freeman to the world as a gun-toting, bullet-dodging Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics.

so many people misinterpret the voice acting which makes me really sad.

it's such a NEAR PERFECT balance between ironical and exaggerated parody ("over the top" soldier's acting, the "gay" scientists) and serious and professional casting as close as possible to the original. beside that to these critics: tell me a name of ANY MOD with better voice acting? even full-price titles these days are worse or at least as amusing BUT without meaning to. ;)

edit: sorry for the doubleposting, some strange error. i was clearly on the other video page. :/ clip here is still processing.

"Awww man, you cut the pony tail. Sell out!"

The best line in the whole game.

Oh Fedde. There is more to it.

The Gordon Freeman's model in HL1 has a small pony tail, while his model in HL2 doesn't despise being put in stasis until the begin of HL2 meaning the pony tail should still be there

Uh, no.

Just in the original Half-Life alpha and beta versions, Gordon was going to have a beard & Ponytail at one point.

Because they gave him one. Come on man, how can any of us actually answer that? We didn't model the damn thing.
If I had to venture a guess I'd say it's because his design is a mix between Marc Laidlaw (HL's writer) and Kelly Bailey (Ex sound designer at Valve). Kelly had a ponytail.

It's kinda like the lines shouted by enemy solders in Red Faction 2. Like when you kill one, and the guy beside him shouts 'That was my cousin twice-removed!'.

Or Borderlands 2 when you kill a Hyperion engineer and another one next says "He was 2 days from retirement"

Another great line was

"I know what you're doing... you're giving me the silent treatment" -guard

Oh, and
"Keep down, and advance with deliberate movements" -scientist in the surgery machine room

I have a few nitpicks. While the ValVe Time review was dumb and dragging down, this one was putting feathers under the arms. There are quite a few issues with this mod that should be adressed.
Animations: Their not top quality. Most animations for people are great enough but the weapons are all in need of a touch-up, with exeptions of the Gauss gun and maybe the revolver. Theyve done quite alot good though, added the missing stuff from HL1 and made this wonderful mod. I agree with that the voice acting is pretty uber, and even if some lines arent in the original game, it fits right in.

We need someone abit more objective to the game to make the review. Its either not enough HL or so uberly awesome that doesnt matter with these guys.

Keep in mind. Reviews aren't factual, they're based on opinions. I might love a beer you hate, right?

Many people base their own opinions off of opinions of supposedly competent reviews, which are not always as competent or unbiassed as they should be. Reviewers often forget that, and responsibility they bear when doing a review. Every opinion in a review must be supported by facts, not just some Joe-shmoe says he likes or don't like something just because...
