You know, I just don't get it, "gamers". I really don't. We have the media on us. We have society on us. We have the gaming industry on us. Shit, we even have our own gamers fighting online with one another, trash talking, and disrespecting other gamers. Even extending into goddamn real-life. And what do we do? We keep our heads down, our eyes closed, and continue to take whatever anyone throws at us, and it's just going to get worse. Now if you have read this far and aren't concerned with what I tell you, you don't even need to be on the internet, because it just proves to me how narrow-minded that I have just said you are and shows how much of a burden you are on the gaming community. You are sheep, and what happens to sheep?
So where do I start? How about the media? So as most of us already know, we have been labeled and told since forever that gaming is not good for you; it makes you violent, it makes your brain cells rot, it makes you want to commit mass murder, it ruins your lives, it is unhealthy- well now, they want everyone to know just what you supposedly are. It's disgusting, because now, not only have they instilled fear into general, uninformed society, they are instilling into the gaming population ourselves, as it requires any game with an "E" rating and above, whether the content in the game is considered violent or not, to carry this label. I'll let you form your own opinion on the specific subject, but you need to comprehend the fact that this will continue, as the bill has been tried twice before.
And it gets worse, because as I mentioned, we have our own gaming industry, that we built ourselves, as gaming consumers, treating us with disrespect continuously, have no concern for the individual, and nickle and dime you around every corner. This isn't new news, either. And you know it isn't. And it's sickening that there are still fan-boyish defenders of these companies when there is obvious evidence that there is moral wrong-doing, sometimes even acting above the law to make their sales. And it doesn't end there, as publishers have been handing money under the table for years to influence gaming review scores which in turn, influence large portions of sales, holding back DLC content that is already on your disc, and so on. So my question is why. Why do you people call yourselves gamers when you are allowing this to happen? Sure, we can hit them in their wallets, we can choose not to buy their product. But in all honesty, the portion that is keeping them going are the uninformed, mostly casual gamers who could care less.
Now, the idea behind this blog post was not to rant, it was not to act as the enraged gamer that the industry and society sees us as, but to inspire you to help me do something about it. You see, I have been preparing a project that is long overdue. It's currently codenamed The Indie Initiative. In a move against these outrageous business decisions and disrespectful actions, we need to show that our firepower is stronger than theirs, as we are the consumer, and we are the controller of their market. This includes bringing back a revamped, community driven Monthly Mod and Indie Spotlight, bringing independent studios into a more professional realm with interviews and previews, keeping gamers informed about the gaming industry's bullshit, and strengthening ties between gamers who have a passion for gaming as strong as mine. This is all in an effort to become a larger, branching organization in order to bring them back on the same level as us. This is a hobby. This is an art form. This is not how things should be and it is about time for us to make an initiative against it.

Why are people voting down comments on my page- don't. Whatever their opinions or comments are, they shouldn't be discouraged because of downvoting. If anything- upvote the fact that they took the time to even write a comment because I personally find it surprising when I get a new comment.
