A continuation of the previous blog post titled a secret of Toltec shamans.
Belief about reality and deity belief of Tezcatlipoca
Toltec knowledge spoke about a different version of Tezcatlipoca. Commonly, Tezcatlipoca is an Aztec god. The belief that Tezcatlipoca is just a god seems to be just a very personalised and deified version of the whole story.
So was everything about the subject said? No, not all at all, it seems. So what's the real belief behind Tezcatlipoca?
Tezcatlipoca = mirrors of each other = outer worlds reflect the inner world
Tezcatlipoca is the concept that we all are mirrors and reflections of each other. Your friends, relatives and everybody else you meet is a mirror of yourself. Everybody of your associates and friends have your features and characteristics, sometimes greatly magnified or standing out, and also, you have something nobody seems to have (and that is a mirror exclusively for your friends).
So, if your close friend is a narcissus, you have narcissism in yourself as well, however subdued or shunned by you. How does it work? It works like:
like attract like, similar people attract similar people, and everybody you know is a mirror of yourself (a partial one, i.e. every person you're around mirrors something in you)
That's what Tezcatlipoca really is. Tezcatlipoca is translated as a smoking mirror. So, are we mirrors of each other? And how? You can think of who you met and who you talked about, all friends and associates. Is your friend a rationalist? You have some of rationalism in yourself. Is your friend a traditionalist? You have some traditionalism in yourself. Does your friend gets angry very often? You have some anger in yourself.
And yes, it includes everything: judging (judges and judged are the same, they're just but mirrors of themselves, they attract each other just like every other pair of reflections/mirrors), anger (angry people attract angry people), etc.
That's about the past too. If you examine what friends you have in your previous years and stages of life, you may start to become aware that your former friends (those who are gone now) were also mirrors of your past life, of your past personality - you were different when they were around, i.e. you were more alike them.
The above arguments and explanation seems to be too pushed, too self-confirming. But all that Toltecs and Toltec shamans found out about was just a product of their personal, empirical experience with psychoactive plants and psychoactive, mind-stimulating practices (such as squinting eyes, silencing thoughts, etc.).
Tezcatlipoca: however partial and partially it seems, we seem to be mirrors of each other and we mirror each other, each other's features, characteristics, attitudes and goals and other things. The outside world seems to be a mirror of yourself, both on personal and global level.
Summing up
All of above is just a belief that reality is so, that we are mirrors of each other. Whether it's true or false, it's only for you to decide.
