Ok, this is an old text I found on my external hard drive that I wrote over two and a half year ago. I havn't edited it, just translated it from swedish to english. I never finsihed it so it's just a draft. What would happen if you mixed Planet of the Apes with Fallout? Let's find out!

Fallout of the Apes

Prolog

During humanity's last year, before the apocalypse, a number of experiments were made on genetically modified apes of the species chimpanzee, orangutang and gorilla.
The experiments were run by Vault Tech with the purpose of producing servants who could perform simple household tasks (as an alternative to robots). In addition to the facility where the genetically enhanced apes were produced and trained, they were also used in the nearby town where they had to perform simple tasks on a trial basis. They served, did gardening chores and other simpler tasks. However, the researchers went so far that they managed to apply the language gene FOXP2 in one of the chimps (Caesar). Caesar, who detested captivity pretended to be nice to get to practice in the city where he got the other apes to rebel against the humans. By a coincidence the end of the world occurred at the exact same time as when the apes had managed to defeat there former human masters (but only in the nearby town).

Caesar picked two GECK: s (Garden of Eden Creation Kit) in the city vault (vault built by Vault Tech to protect the people from the end of the world, unfortunately for this city's people they were given intelligent apes as servants instead of robots) and then pulled ahead with his apes to an adjacent valley that weren't so badly hit by the apocalypse. He made sure to use the GECK: s to make the soil fertile, and then he began with the creation of the ape society. Since the underlying reason that mankind had destroyed itself were that it was divided into several nations the first and most sacred law of ape society became:

"Ape never kills ape"

A functioning society had eventually grown up in the valley and everything was hunky-dory during Caesar's rule. Since the three ape races have their distinct differences, they had automatically been divided into a class-like society. Chimps were the smartest and therefore mostly involved in education and science, the gorillas were the stupidest but the strongest, mostly occupied with the rougher work and also to defend ape civilization against humans who ran around in the region, while the conservative orangutans grabbed positions of power. It should be mentioned that Caesar was not the only ape that had received the lanquage gene FOXP2, but there were a number of other apes that could also speak. When the apes had kids the gene was passed on and hence even the mute apes kids got the gift.

Apes evolution accelerated enormously due to the huge radioactive radiation and therefore they were as intelligent as humans after only a few generations. However, the intellectual differences between the three ape races remained the same, chimpanzees remained the cleverest and the gorillas the stupidest.

The ape community grew exponentially, centrally governed from the capital - Ape City. The society's technological level was similar to human 17th century except that the apes medical knowledge exceeded  the 17th century humans by far. The conservative orangutans who ruled the apes collected and destroyed all evidence of past human civilization. The gorillas were hunting for and killing mutants on a daily basis. The apes maintained a fairly large green area. Everything beyond the green land was radioactive wasteland and was known to the apes as The Forbidden Zone. No ape was allowed to enter the forbidden zone, in order to protect them from the truth of the intelligent apes origin and mankinds cruelty. The gorilla army who was patrolling the borders and killed off Ghouls and Super Mutants were too stupid to understand. Only one monkey knew the whole truth, an orangutang known as Dr.Zaius.
