Hi y'all! I don't know if this is the best place to put this little speech/presentation of mine, but here goes:

I've always wanted to get into Game Development, like REALLY badly. But sadly, I've never found the point to break into it and I have no idea what programs or anything I could use. All I really need is some poeple that I can ask for guidance and getting on my feet. I see all of these amazing games and have all these ideas, i just don't know where to put them. So, if anyone reads this, would someone give me a quick run-down/guide to help me getting started on my first game? (I know it's a bit to ask, but any help would be GREATLY appreciated)
P.S. I'm definitely joining this group because everyone seems friendly and i would love to give feedback and test any game :D

For starters I suggest joining development of some free (GNU GPL) Open Source game, that way you can learn a lot and put some of your great ideas into existing game and make it better for everyone. Cheers!

Hello, I hope my comment will be useful.

I think the best would be to join some gamedev team. You will get useful experience and knowledge. Perhaps you can do a free lance job, scetches, reviews, models.. Making games is a hard job, you need to know a lot. Especially if you are an indie.

You can check out the game dev vacancies to understand what are the requirements. You will find out where to start.

Beside the now open idt4, there is also Cafu Cafu.de and Panda3D Panda3d.org , both more or less complete, but in slow development. Another closed cheap engine is ShiVa3D Stonetrip.com
