When the Xenoid threat was discovered, human society was thrust into an era of martial law. Security became top priority, at the cost of individual liberty.

In the face of this growing oppression, many left their homeworlds in search of freedom. The Freerunners fled, to explore and settle the new frontier planets.

When Enforcers from the homeworld pursued them in a military effort, the Freerunners were forced to defend themselves. This was the beginning of the great human civil war which continues to this day.

In hope of defending your settlements against threats, both human and alien, you have enlisted as a pilot with the Freerunners.

I saw someone mention a vague simarlarity to EV Nova, so bought it straight away! I love EV nova and if this is going to be a 3D spiritual successor to it, take all of my money!!!

Working on a last content-focused beta, which is keeping me very busy. Will probably do a bug fix/quality release or three when that is done, and then move to release.

Here is a summary of recent dev activity (warning -- torrential braindump): Forum.zigfrak.com

Been meaning to make a more concise news entry for here; need to make more noise!

Played about 30min of the demo and bought the game. Really enjoying it. There is something about this game that brought me back to the days when I was playing a little game from Ambrosia Software called Escape Velocity (Override and Nova). I had a blast with that little game and this feels to me like a modern update. The graphics, while not overly impressive, have good attention to model detail and suit the experience. Gameplay is fantastic, and so far I'm rwally impressed. Thanks for bringing me back to a wonderfully classic space sim feel with this game! Good work so far, can't wait to see the future updates/final release. 9/10

Yes! Ambrosia's EV series is dear to me. Those were some good space games.

Zigfrak gets compared to a lot of games, but rarely to the titles which it actually was inspired by, and I'm glad you saw the connection.

I just checked out the demo today, needless to say I have fallen in love with it and already purchased the game. I love the humor, I love the gameplay, and I love the title. Please continue to make this awesome game.

The only think I would ask is if their is a way for the soundtrack to continuously play in the background? It seems if you enter and area, and are their for a while the background music will fade away. Aside from that the game is perfect in my opinion.

8.18 attempts to fill those long silent gaps with some background music. It should be authorized for display shortly.

Thanks, glad you're enjoying it. The awkward silences have been bugging me too, and I will be doing something about it soon.

Aesthetics: Sci-Fi all the way! Clean, simple, and worthy of Wing Commander or other series! Still obviously primitive but has lots of potential for polish :)

Sound: Music kinda cuts in and out, might not hurt to use some public-domain classical music to fill in the gaps if you need to do so, or some free music released under a 'do what you want with it just give me credit' type of license. Sound effects are pretty sparse but nicely done when present.

Gameplay: Fantastic work as far as exploration and such. Combat is a bit clunky and takes a bit of getting used to the controls but works fairly well. If you want good mouse-based movement, go get a copy of Freelancer and give it a go.

UI: The UI work you've done is really nice (no clutter!) and well-done with a clean interface. You could borrow/be-inspired-by the 'transparent' Aero look that is in MacOS or the one stolen from MacOS by Win7. I would ask for unique/customizable crosshairs since not everyone wants that big diamond (that doesn't change in size even if you zoom in/out) taking up so much of the gameplay area. Taking another cue from Freelancer, having the spacebar switch between 'mouselook' and 'camera view' modes.

Native 64-bit version: Compatible with 64-bit right now but would be nice to have a 64-bit Win7 version in addition to the 64-bit Linux version that is already present.

Linux support (!) : Take my money nao! =D
