Voxeliens is a retro-style arcade shooter for the PC, in which you defend your planet from waves of descending enemies. The gameplay is simple and fast paced as you battle your way through different environments using a variety of powerups. Think Space Invaders would have been better in 3D? You’re right, so download the demo and play the first few levels for free… then buy the full game for just $3.99!

I think this would be better in first person or maybe a bottom up view... :p
It does look like an interesting refresh of Space Invaders.

That's actually a pretty interesting idea! Playing the game from the perspective of the tank would be an interesting twist... maybe hard to see what's going on but interesting none-the-less.

Lol I'm glad you liked the idea but I was just making a bad joke trying to say the game would be better if it were more like other Space Invader like spaceship shooters which would undermining the uniquness of the game as a lot of the style is derived from the voxel art. The effect of the style is highly dependent on the viewing perpesctive so changing the perspective to something more common would likely not highlight the best aspects of your art.

Sorry for the slow reply but I missed this comment. Anyway, we do intend to bring the game to Desura and a few other distribution platforms. We want to get the Linux version working before we come to Desura though, so it will probably be a month or two.

To follow this up, we are now on Desura! We don't have the Linux version yet though (it's still in the pipeline) so it's Windows only for now.

Those voxeliens look very threatening.

Yes, there are some inevitable comparisons with Voxatron here. Both games are built upon a similar kind of technology and have a retro feel to them. I think ours is prettier (espessially the lighting) but they have superior physics/destruction at the moment. I particuarly enjoyed cutting down trees and watching them collapse in that game.

In terms of gameplay, I would probably say that ours has a more arcady feel. It's the kind of game you can pick up and play for 20 minutes while your dinner is cooking. Each time you play you start from the beginning and you just have to get as far as you can before you run out of lives. A lot like Space Invaders really ;-)
