Monsters, weapons, potions, spells, quests, pets, bosses, a giant castle... and a funny story! Unepic is a combination of platforming and role playing games. There are many hilarious references throughout the game. The game takes place in Harnakon, a huge medieval castle. It is set in the hardcore NES Style, yet refined with the latest features. This makes Unepic a very unique game. Daniel, the hero, is a normal guy from recent times: a great videogame player, big sci-fi movie fan, novice player of role playing games, pot-head and overall, horny due to a mysterious lack of success with girls. During a D&D session he is teleported to a fantasy castle where his modern way of thinking will go against monsters and other characters from there.

RSS Feed Unlocking the game

I bought the game and... it's the demo!!! Don't panic, this is normal. The game must be unlocked. This article explains how to unlock the game.

Posted by franfistro on Dec 22nd, 2011

When you buy the full version of Unepic and you play, you will see the word "demo".
Don't worry, you have successfully installed the full version, but you still need to unlock it. In fact, the demo and the full version are the same file.

To unlock it, run the game and press the "OPTIONS" button in the bottom...

Then select the "ENTER USER" option....

A popup will ask for your email: use your current email address...
( in the picture bellow, I used my email as example )

Then a password...
Here use the CD KEY that you have been provided with when purchasing the game.
( I used an example of typical CD KEY )

(during this operation you will need to be connected to Internet.)
When done, the game will be unlocked and the "demo" work will disappear forever.

If you install the game in another computer, you will need to insert your email and the serial (CD KEY) again.

Once registered, you will be able to upload your scores to the Unepic global score table and compare them with other players. You can also access the "my zone" section of the web (www.unepicgame.com), log in, and do actions like changing your nickname.

Your email will not be given to anyone.
An ancient demon will keep it inside of a golden box in Harnakon's server. :c)

You're right. It is "enter user" instead of "unlock". And you may use the serial as a password.
I have updated the article and included a few pictures to make it easier to understand.

I entered e-mail and CD-key many times, but game said "the user and password you entered are not registered" only.

I'm sorry, it is my mistake.
I installed desura in c:/program files(x86), under Win7/x64.
Change install folder and retry "enter user", succeeded in remove "demo" once time.
Sorry to cause you so much trouble.

Ah pity, online activation is a no-go for me...

If you ever feel like releasing the game DRM-free in the future I look forward to buying it.

Seriously, why online activation? All your fans are die-hard PC gamers who very well know how to download the game for free if they want to. Why put an extra annoyance in their way and ensure they can't install the game anymore if you close shop? Most indie games these days use being DRM-free as a selling point, but I guess you didn't get the memo...

I bought this game from the Unepic homepage. it seems the unlock process DOES work with the Desura Demo version so even though it says "Demo" in the game list, the full game IS unlocked. Kind of weird but at least it works. I guess it's a side of effect of the demo and full version being identical. Only problem is the Desura version seems to be out of date (Unepic v1.0.19 instead of Unepic v1.0.27).

I'm the same Carnival73 that purchased this from you over at Indievania during your first release. A friend gave me this key because he doesn't use Desura - He also gave me the code that came with Royale but not sure how long I'm going to have that before it gets lost (if not lost already). XD

By the way, the installer over at Indievania shows that version as always being 'Demo.'
If I query my email (same here as used at Indievania) through the game, will it recognize me as a legitimate owner (from my Indievania purchase)?

This still says demo in my library after following your steps, even though it accepts my registration.
I don't think I'll go any further with this game.

Online activation on Desura is unnecessary and annoying!
