There where few updates in last few months that I dont see in news section here. They added terraforming, new tutorials and new barrel management. And now are working on new farming and adding animations to fights. They should really put patch notes somewhere on desura.

Version v14e (released: 1st september 2014)

Add: A way to copy piles/containers configuration to other piles/containers
Change: Normalized sound files
Fix: Glitch opening a pile/container configuration panel when other one is already opened

Version v14d (released: 18th july 2014)

Add: New image based tutorials
Add: Terraforming
Add: Floating red numbers when a living takes damage
Add: Right click over the typing panel now closes it
Add: ESC key now closes any panel (IE. Townies panel, priorities panel, ...)
Add: The possibility to load a saved game when you start a game (used on the tutorials)
Add: A way to concatenate campaign/missions once you complete the current one
Add: The regular mouse now shows the pointed area number
Change: The townies level restriction for hauling now is also used when they perform tasks
Change: Manual equipping of townies now shows a warning in front of the items that are on restricted levels
Change: Scaffolds now decay after some time
Fix: Townies now will use already built and unplaced items before the construction of new ones
Fix: If a texture can't be loaded with the current library the game will use the old method
Fix: Images from mods are loaded again
Fix: Layed eggs Skootenbeetens are now feeded with blue radishes (like the non-layed ones)
Fix: The chest image when rotated now is correct
Performance: Seed generation when you start a new game (3-15 times faster)
Performance: Monster generation when you start a new game (20% faster)

As an early purchaser, I would be happy if they just released the source code under a permissive license such as the GPL. This seems like the best solution if they are no longer interested in working on it.

The fact is that the main developer did not say its abandon and there will be no development for it, he just said that he is leaving it as he is not getting paid. People need to learn to read, and stop assuming things (especially a lot of news sites that do a very bad and shallow job).
So no, the games is not abandoned, and for sure it is not official (it was for short time back in feb, but now its not).

The only reason Xavi is mentinoning hiring someone else is because of the backlash. Anyway all he intends is to hire someone else on commision. It's a no-risk to him thing that no-one will take.

Honestly it reminds me of a guy trying to sell a horse corpse he has in his boot. He keeps opening his boot and showing it to a new guy and saying "There you go what do you think?" and they shake their heads and walk away.

"Again I'm sorry that we had to pull the plug right here" is not related with the thing will the game still be developed, as he said in his tweeter or other news articles.It is directly related for him leaving the game and not working on it anymore.

I am not interested what you think or assume here. I am here to correct you when you said the game is abandon and cancelled as it is 100% not correct, that is a fact. You can assume all you want, that he will not hire a new guy, or that it is because of the backlash, and that's what you need to say, not some official things that the game is dead.

Dude, difference between this article and your is that your says the game is dead, no updates in future, nothing.

The article i linked say that there is plan to continue the development of the game. And that is exactly what I am saying. People reading your comment will think, that is dead for good, with no plan for future, and that is not the case.

I don't know if your a fan boy or what. I bought towns long ago, and have supported it ever since. However, the game is now DEAD, all of the devs have moved on and the game will no longer receive updates. Xavi and BurningPet have both said this. While Xavi made excuses BurningPet apologized, Tows is dead and will no longer continue getting updates and it sucks, since I still like the game. But its OVER.

I said don't buy the game it's abandoned. The article you linked to said the game is abandoned too. What's the problem? I never used the word 'dead'- that was only ever you.
