The Polynomial is a 3D musical 'space shooter' game, with non-shooter mode and built in fractal editor. Visuals are generated mathematically and animate to your music or microphone input; there are 4 music-driven animators and 38 arenas to choose from (12 arenas in free demo). You can create your own arenas using built in editor, and you can save your fractal images at any resolution. There are many parameters you can change for entirely new, original look; the number of combinations is astronomical. The Polynomial comes with 50 minutes of excellent soundtrack created by Alexey Lavrov and T.K.
System requirements: GeForce 8 series or later, Radeon HD 2000 series or later, with at least 256MB of video memory. NOTE: Intel's integrated graphics (GMA and the like) mostly do not work due to their slow speed at anything other than textured triangles. If you encounter any problems, see the forum. Linux issues: you need proprietary 3D drivers. You will need libmpg123 for mp3 file support.

simply put a very beautiful game
Fantastic fractal game!
I bought polynomial a month ago, there's any chance to get a desura key?
regards :)
This game is amazing. I've only got the demo so far, but still.
(also, Linux support, thank you very much)
ANyone have any ideas why this wont start for me?
Running ubuntu 11.10 32 bit.
The game window opens for a second and acts like its going to run, then the window just vanishes and I get nothing. This happens every time i click "launch". The window shows for half a second then disappears.
ANy ideas? Thanks
Mmm, run the game in the console and search the error, it's posible a missed library.
Regards.
I know ubuntu uses gstreamer. as far as I know, anything that can talk to gstreamer can use any gstreamer codecs that are installed on the system. if your looking to shorten the list of options, your best bet is to look at the top 4-5 distros, ubuntu, debian, opensuse, fedora, and maybe arch (pretty much in that order). usually if you support the top 5 you support about 95% of distros. though. im not a dev, so how hard this would be is a bit of an unknown on my end.
hmm i'll see about allowing to specify a command for decoding the file onto stdout , and stream from that command's stdout. The good-ol unix way.
Meanwhile, you can set the input source in pulseaudio (using pavucontrol or the like) to monitor of audio out, and set the pulseaudio as sound capture device in The Polynomial . Then you can use any external music player with The Polynomial. Please buy a full version instead of always circumventing the mp3 restriction this way though :-)
