Savage is a game for gamers, definitely not for consumers. The combat mechanics allow you to become ridiculously good, just with talent and skill. You have full manual control in any moment, giving you a very solid feel. The geometry is simpler but the feel more real than in any lame modern "realistic" shooter/action game with aiming restrictions and animations interupting you all the time or RPGs where you just press buttons to activate abilities or cut scenes. The melee combat of Savage is simply FANTASTIC. Most people won't realize that because they rage quit before it gets enjoyable.

All decent multiplayer games (Starcraft, Counter-Strike, Quake etc) take at least 2 years of practice to play at top level. So does Savage! If this wasn't an indie game released by a small company, people would probably play it at Dreamhack today.

Still the most challenging game around.
The community is awesome: diverse, multilingual and friendly, but still providing the occasional troll for entertainment.
Gameplay is balanced, intense and really a challenge! The melee system is easy to
start with, but incredibly deep and difficult to master. Ranged weapons and items make up for battles which are never the same and always open to different tactics.
The clan scene and competitive play is quite alive, and, interestingly, both challenging and accessible. Soon, the new NSL, the clan league is starting!
If you have some real dedication for gaming, Savage XR is awaiting you!

Extremely challenging.
The game is old, so it's not without flaws, but you forget about the flaws as soon as you see them, because this game is ADDICTIVE. Also, it's wort mentioning that some community developes still keep this game updated, for free! Very impressive!
The melee combat system is something from another planet, litterary, I've never seen anything like it. And it's hard, brutally hard. Add fun, and your freetime the next 4 years is lost :)
The combination between RTS (commander mode - like starcraft) and FPS (Field players- like counterstrike) is amazing, and again, I have to say it's like it's from another planet. Haven't played anything similiar in my whole life. GG!

This game is amazing. The potential modding that it opens up (a good example of this would be the SAMURAI mod) makes for one hell of an awesome game, regardless of the age of its engine (which could be modded to have greater potential anyway). I want to personally applaud the XR team for having done such a great job.
