Oniken is a 2D platform action indie game that make use of 8-bit graphic style. My friend Pedro Paiva and I are putting a great effort to guarantee that this game feels really like an 8 bit classic. Everything on Oniken, from the character design to the music, is a tribute to the 8-bit action games from the NES era. So if you like old-school games be prepared for Oniken and remember... Oniken is NES hard!

By purchasing Oniken, you will also get with no extra charging Oniken“s Manual and Original Sound Track composed by Thommaz Kauffmann, Bruno Araujo and N-Freq.

*** Mac and Linux version uses wrappers. They're not a port, however in almost every machine that we tested the game it runs without any problem. However if you had a problem please e-mail us!

Good to see the game's finally coming out, I realized it's been a year since I played the beta.

Maybe it's because I played the beta quite a bit, but I found the demo to be pretty easy, finished it on my first try with only one death. Will there be harder difficulties on the full version? Maybe even a difficulty where one hit kills you, Contra-style?

Thanks! For now Oniken feature one difficult level, however it's a nice idea for an update!
If you like difficult you shold try the Boss Rush Mode when you finish the full version. I can guarantee that it will be difficult task!

I played the 3 level beta and i think this game's really cool, but even if i like hard games i think that tying the sword power to not being hit is maybe a little too much, isn't it?

Just played the 3 level beta. Just changed mt demo preorder to a preorder. Love 8bit like retro games. Will you implement custom keybindings in the full version.

You can not have "8 bit" graphics with a 256 color pallet. "16 bit" would be pushing it a bit. (Dammit I did not mean to make a pun).

If you want 8 bit, go google Commodore 64, Vic 20, Apple ][, or Atari 800.

Nice looking game though :) reminds me of some early Amiga games.

i'm off to give this game a try. beforehand though, have you tried Vice:Project Doom on the nes? if you havent i've got a feeling you might enjoy it. also, seeing that you're working with MF2, let me suggest Scirra Construct to you, which is similar but i find it to be much better, also, you can include wiiremote support, which for nes-like games is great! between Construct Classic and Construct 2, i presonally prefer classic. btw game looks awesome! you try to get it included in some bundle to make it get some spotlight!

I just know I'll be frustrated to **** knows what once I eventually get to play this, because I haven't touched a nes in 5 years.

Better start padding off the walls already!

So that I don't have to horribly disfigure my fingers or sell some internal organs and buy a gamepad to play. It's not like I'm saying you should have a gun and be able to one-shot all bosses; this won't affect difficulty as much as it does immersion.
