You have the task of finding the hidden heir to a throne that sits empty. Tamriel's previous emperor has been slain, and with no true ruler the gates to Oblivion open and demons begin to invade the people and towns of the empire. Actually you were a prophecied savior and a hero. At the beggining of the game the emperor tells you that he sees you in his dream and knows that you are the hero to save tamriel from the oblivion crisis.

Isn't that how you are in every single elder scrolls game. A nobody that is in jail for some unknown reason, that is miraculously set free to find out that you are the prophesied warrior or that your have something unique about you to allows you to save the world?

The notable cool thing about Oblivion was FACEGEN. The other one - the ability to lag and crash on EVERY machine.
