Mount and Blade is a 3D, open-ended, single-player, third- or first-person, computer role-playing game, created and distributed by the Turkish development house TaleWorlds. Mount and Blade has a medieval setting, without any fantasy elements. Mount and Blade is notable for its emphasis on realistic cavalry combat, which was common in the era, but is largely absent in most RPG titles.

Taleworlds sends out an invitation to anyone wanting to join the closed beta for M&B Warband

Posted by Henley on Jul 25th, 2009

I love Mount and Blade and so do the staff of ModDB, we love it so much it took away the Editors Choice award for Best Indie at last years MOTY's. So here is a shameless plug for our friends over at Taleworlds, all about their upcoming expansion called Warband which if you have been living under a rock and know nothing about is a multiplayer expansion for the highly acclaimed Indie game. Anyway here is a qoute from the M&B forums.

Taleworlds wrote:Hello everyone,

We are getting closer to starting M&B Warband multiplayer beta tests and this is an invitation to all our community to apply as beta testers and join in the fun. All you need to do is fill out the application form at:

Beta.taleworlds.com

Since server capacity will be limited, we'll be able to accept a limited number of applicants to the beta tests. Our choice criteria will be as follows:

  • Applicants who enter a valid serial key are much more likely to be selected than those who do not.
  • As we open new test servers, we'll invite new beta testers whose locations are close to that server's location. For example, if we open a server in Germany, we'll invite testers who live in Europe.
  • Other than that, selection will be random.

Thank you in advance to all those who will apply. Looking forward to duke it out with you guys on the beta servers...

Exciting stuff is it not? I'm super keen for something like this as the original game had me hooked for hours on end, bring on the multiplayer carnage!

If you'd check their forum you can see that Armagan himself (the lead dev) posting the link. So I trust it, and so does everybody else on the forum.

I checked the forum and was surprised that no one else had mentioned it. Sure I trust the link too, I'm sure that its the devs that get the info. But that doesn't change the fact that the key is sent in plain text, and hence could be read by someone else too.
Sending things like cd-keys unencrypted just isn't smart. Welcome to the Internet.

They don't really have to be that cautious with serial keys. The copy protection only allows a key to register the game once a month, so there's no real threat from keys being published on piracy sites. Really cracks are the only thing they have to worry about.

i hope they made it better and gave it a purpose of playing instead of getting bored after doing the same things every day so that you are forced to download mods to discover something new

hey lets all post our cd keys on a nonsecure page so anyone capturing pakcets on mine or their network or my isp or their isp or well anything between me and them (the world) can steal it and when the multi player expansion comes out my cd key will be blacklisted making me have to buy all the original games over again.

Yes, because someone is taking a whole day to grab a CD key to a 15 dollar game (actually, 10 on Amazon) JUST so they can get your key blacklisted...

Just an FYI: For some reason, yahoo email accounts aren't getting their confirmation emails right now. Taleworlds hasn't addressed the matter yet, but if you haven't applied yet then use a different email system.

Did you use Yahoo? As I mentioned, Yahoo isn't currently receiving confirmation emails (for reasons unknown). You can check the thread in the forum for updates though. Forums.taleworlds.net
