Majesty for Linux contains both the full Majesty game, and the expansion pack, The Northern Expansion. Majesty is a unique sim putting you in the crushed velvet hotseat of your own kingdom. With an epic quest before you, you make the decisions of where to build your settlement`s guilds and temples. Each one has a mind of its own and must be enticed to meet your goals, via rewards you offer and spells you cast. Meanwhile you must make sure that your treasury stays flush with cash to support these and other outlays necessary to maintain a thriving medieval town. The fact that you are being barraged by attacks from mythical beasts and fantastic creatures doesn`t make your job any easier.

i have ubuntu 12.04 32bit
It looks like you lost part of the pulseaudio compatibility layer (libasound_module_conf_pulse.so). It's part of the package "libasound2-plugins" in ubuntu, so try re-instaling that. If that doesn't work (ex: you already have the library), you can try removing libasound.so.2 from the game's lib/lib2 directory. Hope that helps.
1. In the full version I got sound when i deleted "libvorbis.so.0" from lib/lib1.
2. In demo version i got sound when i deleted every file in lib/lib1 folder exept "libgdk-1.2.so.0", "libglib-1.2.so.0", "libgmodule-1.2.so.0", "libgtk-1.2.so.0", "libsmpeg-0.4.so.0". I also deleted the folder lib/lib2.
I use Lubuntu 12.10.
I remember this fondly from the old XP days. It's a game in which you have little direct control on the good guys, except to place a bounty on baddies. A lot of building and upgrading, and a lot of fun. On my wishlist, certainly.
What is the status of multiplayer in Majesty and Sacred on Linux?
Both support direct and LAN connections. Majesty (CD version) can connect to PenguinPlay for matchmaking but there are no games or players around at any time. Sacred can connect to some unidentified server ("Open Internet") that also seems to be empty..
EDIT: Sacred also connects to PenguinPlay!
Also, what are the chances of getting the HD update to Majesty that Windows got a few months ago?
Next to none. LGP aren't exactly active.
Same here except I installed the game from the original disc when it was first ported to Linux. I manually updated it but sound doesn't work. Tried killing pulseaudio and removing the shipped libraries, but that did not help. Otherwise I can play the game just fine, it's more fun with sound though.
Running the game under Kubuntu 12.04 x64.
Most likely it's because the game tries to plug into OSS. Are you running pulseaudio or ALSA with no OSS compatibility modules? Try ossp, or modify the launcher script to use padsp/aoss. A better solution would be to get rid of the shipped libraries as they're very old (see my post on Sacred's page). Hope that helps.
edit: btw, I have ossp running and the game works fine out of the box for me (demo and CD versions for now).
