They're good at being killed in every way imaginable by Gordon, even some ways that people can't even think of.

Combine got their own Universe, their own insect-like benefactors, their own pulse weapons, their own insect like flying and walking things,etc.
They are way cooler and eviler than every other SciFi based Imperium/Union, etc.
