The treasure trove of Persian mythology contains within it some of humanity's oldest and most profound myths. Garshasp is a symbolic recreation of the spirituality, grandeur and mythical atmosphere of ancient Persia, derived from the epic poem Garshap Naame written by Asadi Tousi [Firdausi's mentor and professor]. Most of the images and scenes depicted in this game are drawn from or based directly upon historical resources and ancient stone carvings found throughout Iran, and a chain of thoughts that goes back thousands of years to the dawn of Western and Eastern civilizations alike.

Garshasp is a 3rd-person action adventure video game, based on ancient Persian mythology. The game is based on the epic battles of the mythological hero, Garshasp, in the ancient lands against the evil monsters. The main mechanics of the game revolves around melee combat, puzzle solving and exploration.

I enjoyed this game. Some frustrating parts. Some bad game design decisions. But I really liked the game world and story (although it is short). Definitely would like to see a sequel someday.

I personally played the Steam version of this game on Steam. I admit, I played on Hard-difficulty, but there's a huge load of basic design mistakes/ bad decisions made for this game. I personally apresite the effort they had and the topic itself was grandiloquent/ambiguous project to tackle with older tales and such.

If this game would be rebuild from scrath into a better one some day, that's another story. But as of now, i can only recomment this game for the bonus materials.

couldn't edit my post so i have to write a new one;
after having searched a bit furhter on the net it seems that this game isn't made by Dead Mage .

"Garshasp has been developed by Fanafzar Game Studios. The enhanced digital distribution version is developed by Dead Mage Inc." -from google cache on garshasp.com/company

Meanwhile the Fanafzar website is offline, I don't know what happened to the company. But I do know the original game was made by a game studio in Iran.

Link to an interview with the original director of the game: Gamestar.ru

I don't know what went down with dead mage studio, but I believe too much credit is given to them here. If what I think is correct the only thing they're doing is making the game ready for the western market.

The people of Fanfazar have worked hard to make this game and now the wikipedia entry for Garshasp even says it's being developed by dead mage studio.

Fanfazar went out of business before they could finish the game. Dead Mage Studio then picked up the game and finished the development of the game. I don't know how far along Fanfazar was in development but I got the impression it wasn't close to being completed.

You're right. Sounds a little fishy.. That would mean this is a fraud! Nice research oh and in the beginning of the latest video it even says Fanafzar Studios. Man talking about being blind.. Silly me ^^

simply can't believe that this is a INDIE game!!!!
it has AAA written all over it!!!!
therefore it does really surprice me that it only has a 6.4 now as rating!

Why did this Game get like an average vote by 5,4. This looks insanly like a God of War and Prince of Persia mix. I love his Sword and the animations are great! Why would one vote less then 7?

And why is this a third person shooter? :P
