Enola alpha 0.5 is available. This new update is a patch to version 0.4 released last week, and fixes bugs related to saving games and game menus. Version 0.4 has A LOT of new stuff, including a new level, many visual changes, sound and music.

You can watch the "what's new" video I posted, but I figured I could show you a video of someone playing version 0.4 instead:

BTW I also think the actress has a really cute voice.

So, new in alpha 0.5... and in alpha 0.4 as well...

RELEASE NOTES FOR VERSION ALPHA 0.5

  • Alpha 0.5 is a bug-fix patch. Version 0.4 had many bugs related to saving games and menu functions.
  • Island level was too dark. Lighting has been tweaked.
  • "Invert mouse" option is now available in the options menu, added by request.
  • A brief manual has been included. It can be found in the Enola install directory.

RELEASE NOTES FOR VERSION ALPHA 0.4

  • There is a new level available on the full release, the night club. The nightclub level is darker and grittier than any other level currently available in the game.
  • Better graphic assets to improve immersion and visual quality of the game. Many stand-in objects have been replaced by actual models (such as people, and furniture). Some textures have been replaced, materials have been tweaked (including a new skin material) and lighting has been changed to provide a more dramatic effect.
  • Some UI elements have been updated to their final form, like the item pick up window, and the message logs window. Some other UI elements remain unchanged, like the inventory. Puzzle interfaces have not been changed either.
  • Gameplay changes to the cabin and chapel level. There are also visual changes in these levels, so Enola is slowly taking shape.
  • This release includes music, a little voice acting, and additional sound effects.
  • Saving the game has changed from the previous "save on demand" method, to a save-points based method.
  • The main menu shows an options menu that will allow you to change resolution (Enola will automatically switch to full screen when you do), adjust volume and brightness. There is only one volume slider because I am using a "master" volume and not a volume for music, sounds, voices, etc. The options menu is not visually pretty right now, but gets the job done.
  • General bug fixes (surely you'll find more bugs, so feel free to let me know!).
