Smart, smooth and a lot of fun. The only problem...it's too short ;)

This is a great little game, the hide features are amazing and it's fun for a 1 hour ride... I did think it was a bit short, but the students made a great game!

too short but a very good gameplay.
It's a good idea to prepare a full game.

This game was strange at first, but once I understoood the mechanics it turned out to be quite awesome. The atmosphere and innovative gameplay had me until the end. The level design in particular was pretty adventurous, jumping inconspicuously from torch to torch watching my prey scurry below. I'm not sure if there was much of a plot but somehow it seemed to all fit, and the ending was pretty satisfying. Very nice music as well, catching the right tone between stalker and combatant. Probably the worst part of the game is that it ends so soon.

The only problem with this game is that there isn't enough of it.
An interesting little action stealth title where you leap into lights and people, chaining leaps together to move through the level without being spotted or killed.

Well worth the short time it'll take you to experience it.

Deity is a stealth action game built from scratch in C++ with a custom engine by a small group of students who were crazy enough to attempt such a thing and skilled enough to succeed. From the first boot up when I notice volume settings defaulted to 11 to the last moments when the remarkably short credits rolled, it was plain to see that this game with love.

The game stars the player as a horned demon who is trying to kill a winged angel. The story is straightforward but compelling. It is told without words, though there are a few short but unskippable (even if you die) cutscenes. I do not consider it a spoiler to reveal that the player wins at the end and darkness reigns glorious and eternal as a result.

As an indie game, Deity only has a few mechanics, and as a good game, they are all well chosen and harmonious. The left mouse button moves the demon around, light hurts him, so the player must keep away from the angel's torch bearing guards. The right mouse button is used to shadow rift, which turns the demon into a purple mist that can enter enemy bodies and then burst out of them, leaving behind a gruesome Diablo style mess. The rift is also used to move across small gaps and to corrupt fires, turning them into hiding spots. The demon can only rift for short bursts , just enough time to lunge at a single target, but later he begins to gain the ability chain his shadow rifts, allowing him to turn a roomful of enemies into a twisted string of blood filled firecrackers. At that point, the game shifts over from stealth to action. Both phases of the game are fun, and the transition point was clear but natural.

Overall this game is great and you should play it. It's well built by passionate people, the game play is fun and smoothly varied, and it tells a compelling story in less than the amount of time it takes to watch a feature film such as Mean Girls. It's totally fetch.
