“A deserted island…a lost man…memories of a fatal crash…a book written by a dying explorer.”
Two years in the making, the highly anticipated Indie remake of the cult mod Dear Esther arrives on PC. Dear Esther immerses you in a stunningly realised world, a remote and desolate island somewhere in the outer Hebrides. As you step forwards, a voice begins to read fragments of a letter: "Dear Esther..." - and so begins a journey through one of the most original first-person games of recent years. Abandoning traditional gameplay for a pure story-driven experience, Dear Esther fuses it’s beautiful environments with a breathtaking soundtrack to tell a powerful story of love, loss, guilt and redemption.

You have learned somthing Valve hasn't understand yet: Blending foliage... Lol, in Half-Life 2: Episode Two, it's like the forest is completely frozen, except there is no ice...
Looks amazingly atmospheric.
Does the affiliation with valve mean you have full access to the source engine, or is it the same as normal source mods? (Albeit with an amazing designer behind it)
I think it's full engine code access as it's a game they're making.
Congrats on the GameInformer interview!
I wonder what this game will be like with the 2011 Source Engine...
Congratulations on the Valve thing
Can you please release some 1920x1080 photos of Dear Esther? I would love to use this amazing mod as my wallpaper. Thanks.
Great idea. I want these wallpapers, too!
We're adding media to the game site: www.dear-esther.com - it's a gradual process but we'll put 'em up here as we go too!
I have to disagree with you. I feel a lot of games engines these days are clunky and constricted. I don't want to be prevented from looking left or right while sprinting, or be glued to a ladder so much.
I want to bunnyhop and snap-shot without having to use several buttons to increase my accuracy. For PC gaming, where users can perform these tricks, it should definitely be available. I don't want to be stuck in xbox mode.
