The next chapter in the #1 rated RTS franchise thrusts players into a hellish war torn landscape to command two battle-hardened armies in relentless campaigns for honor and country. Players lead the tenacious British 2nd Army during the heroic World War II liberation of Caen, France, and command the German Panzer Elite as they struggle to repel the largest airborne invasion in history.
This is more than Command & Conquer and Star Craft "Get the resources, build a Object-load of units and steam-roll your enemy" style of game.
Not that there is anything wrong with that. I do like to play a 15-20min game with no "consequence" for loosing or wining, from time to time. But ever since Company Of Heroes came out...it's just amazing
This game is way more realistic and in-depth than any other WW2 RTS game out there*.You have your account and as you play you get higher military rank and sense of accomplishment(on the leader-board).In game you get Xp for killing the enemy, and when you get enough you unlock special abilities in the Doctrine Specific Command Tree. And thats only half the story, let me give you some examples:
1)Infantry are build in squads
2)They actually run for cover when they are being shot at
3)Support weapons (like: HMG, Mortars, AT-guns, Snipers, Officers, etc.) bring a new twist to the gameplay
4)Tanks have frontal and rear armor (stronger and weaker respectively)
5)Main guns, Tracks, Engines, Gunners can be killed, damaged or destroyed
6)Off-Map Arty, Bombing/Strafing/Recon Runs, Paratroopers, Elite Units (All these are from the Doctrine Specific Command Tree abilities)
So Company of Heroes (and Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts expansion pack) are worth buying...Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor mini expansion pack is, eh, a rip off. Get it if you really want the entire CoH franchise.
And if you really want to get the most out of this game, download Blitzkrieg mod for CoH(from right here on moddb.com). Its a free mod that adds new units, skins, maps, abilities, damage system, etc.
*You may say: "Men of War is WAY more realistic than this Object!". And I would have to agree with you. But Men of War is a WW2 Simulator, CoH is a game based on WW2.
