I bought the Linux version in the Hunble Bundle but haven't gotten around to playing it yet. I heard it was now on Desura and I was considering buy it again since I've really come to hate managing my download from HiB.
I'm a little surprised to see links for both the Windows and Apple version, but not the Linux version.
It WAS available (non-demo only) for the Linux versions but now it's not. Here's hoping it's because there was some kind of incompatibility discovered with the Desura packaging process.
It really wouldn't do well for their reputation if it turns out that removing the Linux version from Desura was a response to too many Linux people politely asking for Desura keys to go with their Humble Bundle purchases since Steam users already got keys.
I thinks many of us have the same question? Any chance to get a Desura Key for us who bought it in the Humble Bundle.
I want to say thanks again for developing for linux.
I've e-mailed spidweb@spiderwebsoftware.com and asked (politely!) also.
Please, each HIB/Desura/Linux buyer, also do the same. It has to be worth it to them, in terms of interest, or why would they? So, we have to show them, by proving to them how many Linux fans they gained via the bundle. It's probably not a large group, but a small & dedicated group willing to put forth the cash can be a justification to a small indie game development house.
They must actually have some Linux interest internally, because they've released on Linux before (Exile III, if I recall correctly). I wonder if they'd be willing to spend a couple of weeks spit-polishing that old build for modern distros and putting it up on Desura for a few bucks...
I emailed them, too. No response yet, but I'm willing to bet they are getting swamped with emails.
I spoke to soon. I just got a reply from them and they basically said that they would need more time to get this done, which they don't have. Understandable for a small indie.
I've also e-mailed them. I wrote a polite letter commenting that, thanks to the Humble Bundle, I went from never having heard of them to having Avadon as one of the handful of games I actively play and explaining that I fully understand time constraints but I'd really appreciate it if, eventually, they do manage to find time to arrange Desura keys for Humble Bundle buyers.
There were more details, but that's the most important part.
I've Avadon from HIB, too. Hoping to get a redeem code.
any chance to get a linux (64bit) demo?
Nice. Any chance we Linux-using and/or DRM-hating buyers of the Humble Bundle for Android 2 could now get Desura keys as an alternative to the Steam ones we already have access to?
(I've talked to the Humble Bundle guys and the Desura guys in the past and they've said that they're willing to facilitate this sort of thing, but it's up to the developers to OK it.)
...and It's bad enough that Nicalis games like Cave Story+ and NightSky are on Desura but Nicalis apparently won't lift a finger to get Desura keys to Humble Bundle buyers.
