99 Levels to Hell is a platform shooter with lots of guns, upgrades, magic, traps and monsters to kill.

99 Levels to Hell is a rogue-like-like, which means surviving is key and every time you play you get a random selection of levels to play.

When you complete 10 levels, the 10th being a boss-fight you unlock a door to the next dungeon.

Hidden in the darkness of the dungeons are shops, casinos and elevators. And if you search the dungeons carefully, you might find secret rooms that unlock more of the story, and free new adventurers, you can play as in your next game.

Got Desura just to play this game! Liking it a lot! So glad you pushed the new changes through to the demo as well today, really gives me an idea how well the game is progressing. Can already tell the controls are better, think if you keep cracking away at it you could get to that Meatboy level of tightness. New bats are great and everything seems more balanced. Does the "Get Out Now!" do anything besides effects that slow down my FPS (hehe, playing on a laptop)?

Part of me wants to be able to play this entirely with my gamepad (ie: not have to use mouse to control aim) but I'll get used to it I think.

I def think this could be the next Spelunky/Isaac, honestly the theme & potential have me more excited than I ever was aboit those games! Great Stuff & Good Luck to you!

Thank you!!
Well hell mode isn't quite done yet ;)

I have been working on gamepad control and hopefully I'll get time to finish it. But it might not be till I implement two-player.

I just finished the first 30 levels and here are my suggestions:
- i found the game quite slow and borring because ennemies seem to not pay attention to you, they are not chasing and folowing you; so if i'm trouble i can just retreat and keep safe at will.
- this was particullary embarassing against the giant red bat boss, i just grabbed the ladder and didn't moved from here, no bat hurted me!
- so i think you should make those 2 litles bat comming from the dying ones agressive to the player for example!
- hearts at the shop are to cheap for now to me, the interest in this type of "try and die" game is that you must restart it again and again, and i don't think that being able to overbuy hearths in first half of the 99 levels will provide that "try and die" experience so the game could be finished in less than 10 restarts i would think.
- finally, i found each levels a bit to long to finish, wich ended in slowing even more the gameplay, if you wanth to take any gold and objects like me, you have to spend to much time in it.

hope it will give some developping clue! :)

Hi
Thank for playing all the through :)
You have some excellent points!
I'm, today actually, working on a follow script for the enemies. That will enable them to attack/charge you.
Yes hearts are way to cheap, I'm changing that with the next update, I also add a heart-cap, so you can only carry 5 hearts at the time.
I made some changes to the rules of the levels hopefully it'll make them more fun to play ;)

I hope the update will go live next week.
Again thank you for your input it's much appreciated.

Great game, played the demo and the controls were kinda off. I bought the Alpha after seeing Spelunky on XBLA-Indie. I decided to go with 99 lvls instead of that one due to the fact that I like the ideas in this game more and the 50% off helped too.

I look foward to more and hopefully some more variety in the level design after playing all the way through the Alpha v0.2.0 I did see the same areas a couple times not to mention repetative boss fights, if there was some randomness or different layouts that would help. Also the Machine Gun seems a little to OP maybe if it wasn't able to reach all the way across the screen, it felt like I was sniping mobs before they even see me. Flashlight and MG FTW.

Overall very much worth the $5, I hope to see more soon.

Hey thanks for buying.
And thank you for your input :D

I've redone the jumping and more levels and boss fights will be added, but I need to get the boss fights that are ingame now better first .
I hope I can have the next update ready by next week.

Not sure where to report bugs but; when I get a second Red Ball, I have two untill the start of the next floor when the second is gone(or sharing the same sport of the other Red Ball).

Also, I like the red bat more than the spider boss, more going on.

Yeah, I'm not sure, if you should be able to have more than one pet at the time, so that's why it works like that for now. Will be fix ;)
Thanks, yeah the boss fights will be tweak in between every build.

Right now you can find weapons, pets, hearts and bombs. You will be able to upgrade the weapons later on, thats what I'm working on right now.
