Created as a homage to the classic 8-Bit Role-Playing Games (RPGs) of the '80s and '90s, 8-Bit Adventures tells the story of an old game cartridge on the brink of destruction. Unplayed for years, it now sits lost and forgotten, covered in dust and slowly being reclaimed by the elements. Struggling against the inevitable, this cartridge sets in motion a plan - a plan, it hopes, that will subvert its fate and save the world within its circuits from total annihilation...

Inside the game, three people - a warrior, a thief, and a mage - wake up to find that all the color has been drained from their world, petrifying all of the townspeople! To restore their home, they must collect the three colored Orbs by exploring dark dungeons and battling dangerous monsters. But this is only the beginning of their journey...

"The last time I was blown away by the story in a game was when I played To the Moon. Then I got an email from Josh, of Critical Games..." - Amanda Fitch, Amaranth Games

1.as soon as u die if u havent saved like me u will get GAME OVER
2.at the start nothing tells you what to do and you are forced to go in the dungeon!
3.dungeon is OP cant survive 2 sec
4.the town is speechless none sells you anything or gives you quests

Hi,

1. That's not really anything unusual in this style of game. If you read the signs at the beginning, they tell you to save all the time.

2. I wanted to replicate the simple openings of an 8-Bit RPG such as Final Fantasy. There are plenty of expository scenes later on, but at the start I wanted the player to get right into the gameplay and begin exploring/piecing things together for themselves. There are also good story reasons for point 4 - complete the dungeon and people will start speaking to you.

3/5. I just replayed through the opening dungeon before replying to this post, and there are some factual errors. The most an enemy can do is six damage, and that's a Wraith with an Ice spell. The bats do between 0 and 2 damage (they can literally do zero damage to you), and the Headless Soldiers can do about 1-3. Consequently, at level 1, the Bats die in one hit, Headless in two. Wraiths are a bit more difficult - if you're having trouble, running away from them is probably your best bet (you can flee - it just sounds like you've had some bad luck).

The dungeon also has numerous potions lying around - don't be afraid to use them if you're having a rough time. You'll get a Cure spell once you reach level 2 - that's four to five battles max to reach it. And if you didn't read the sign, you can always return home and sleep in your bed to make a full recovery. It is definitely a difficult game though.

Regardless, I appreciate the feedback =)

After hearing complaints from numerous players that the first dungeon in the game is too difficult (both from users here on Desura, and on other websites), I decided to re-balance that section of the game to reduce the difficulty and hopefully ease players into the game a bit more gently. A full news post is currently being authorized, but the patch is available right now here on Desura. I hope this addresses the issues that some people have had with the beginning of the game.
